Just when I think things are normal bang, Avery surprises the crap out of me! You see my little man has always taken after his dad (some of his bad habits included), every now and then I see a little bit of me in him, but not very often.

Avery came home from school on Monday with a permission slip. I though a Field trip already! Nope, my little man wants to be part of Student government! I just about split my self wide open, my grin was so big. You see I too took interest in student government at his age! He also informed me of a new program at school he was excited about, it's called N.O.V.A, I have been doing a little bit of research on it, and it seems to me that it's kind of like the dare program. I know that my love for the law started at such a tender age, and had it not been for meeting and marrying the LOVE of my life, I would have continued on with that kind of job Field. I am hopping that this is what I am seeing in Avery!!!, It's rather exciting to see!

For the first time in 22 yrs I am dreading Christmas! Why you ask, well it goes a little something like this. Becki (my sister) and I buried our mother 22 yrs ago last week. Although I have had some pretty amazing stand in , in the Mom department, I am missing her something terrible this year. My mom wasn't a mom in the normal sense of the word. She was more like my big sister. She protected us the best she could and she loved us the best she could!
My kids are growing so very fast and have had to endure a lot of hardships, more than most kids there age have had to, but I wonder what it would have been like had I had my own mom!Would I have suffered the heartbreaking news of having that chance that I would lose my own family as valiantly, would I have fought as hard not to leave them motherless or wifeless? Would she have loved them and spoiled them like my own grandmother did for me and Becki? I know that she would come and see all the silly little plays and concerts, just because I asked her too! I would LOVE for my kids to know the kind of woman she was. She was very talented. She cooked gourmet meals, she baked cakes, that would make even the cake boss drool! She knitted, painted ceramics, made dolls etc,,, The list goes on. Oh for one moment for my kids to see her. For the look on Avery and Zackery's face to know that there Nanny is coming to love on them and no one else for a whole day. For them to not only see the talent, but to have the fruits of that talent in there rooms, or on there backs, or in there closets! They really are missing out on the best part of me, and that is my mom! 22 yrs ago I lost a friend, and a mom!
I have always loved this time of year! The baking, the gift buying, the trees, the feeling of peace and happiness. I tried my hardest for a long time to continue some of the things that she did, and this year, I just can't. I don't want to bake, I don't want to put up a tree, I don't want to shop. All I want this year is to feel her arms around me and to love me and I can't have that. I will never walk into the house again and smell her baking, I will never be able to put on another sweater that she made me, I will never again in this life feel her arms around me, rubbing my back and telling me that she loves me and that things are going to be OK! Like I said before I have had some amazing stand in, my Nanny, Jane and Aunt Joyce, Doug's grandma and even my mother in law have all had an impact on my life and the woman that I have become, but I still miss my mom!, I still have that little 13 yr old girl in side of me who desperately wants to understand why me? Why my mom? I know the answers to most of the questions already, but it doesn't mean it hurts any less, and for some odd and strange reason it hurts more this year than that first 3 weeks without her. It hurts more than on my wedding day, and on the day my kids were born. It even hurts worse than the day they told me that I wouldn't live to see my own family grow! 22 yrs is along time to miss someone that special! I know that there are going to be people reading this thinking that I have lost my mind, that I need medication or that I just need to let it go. I have been letting go allot in my life, it has made me a stronger person, however painful for you to read, think of how painful it was to write, to put all my feelings out there. I have needed to do this for me, and for my sister. I needed her to know that I hurt too and that I wish the same things she does. That I love her! I am human too. Sometimes I need to vent and let my world no that I am not OK today, that everything is not roses and sunshine! See Beck, we are more alike than either of us has ever known! Love you!

My Little Man Turns 11!

Well Another year older and wiser? Maybe! Avery turned 11 this weekend. I can't belive that he is 11. He has growning into a very nice young man! He wanted Applebee's for dinner so off we whent with Grandma and Grandpa Berry. We had a great time. The waiters and waitresses all sang Happy Birthday to him and he did turn a little red. Zackery chose the moments before to have to go to the bathroom, so Doug missed the sining. Luckily grandma was qucik and captured it with her camera. Thanks mom!

I look back to the last time I bloged and relized that alot has happened, and I have not blogged about anything! WOW lets correct that now! Please remember if you are reading this, this is like a journal for me and if you don't like what I have to say then PLEAS DON'T READ THIS!!!! It's not to late TURN BACK NOW!!!!! OK you have chosen to read on, here I go! This summer has been one of confusion, contention and unbeliveable moments!!! I have the most amazing husband, and really he has put up with alot! I am at times a very high matinence kind of wife! You would not think so to look at me, I don't need the new car every 6 months, I don't need the high priced home, shoes or clothes or even food! What I do need is a house that runs smooth, routine and some semblence of order and good grooming! I demand the best behavoir out of our children, and MANNERS!!!! So yes when you toot in public I cringe, when you smell like a public restroom I DEMAND you shower, and when there is ripped clothing beyond what I can fix, weather I can afford it or not I throw it away! Deal with it!

OK so for most members of the church you normally see other people struggle and never think that that will happen to you! Well it has for us. It started a few years ago and I had more than one life changing event and I guess the last one was more than I could handle. I had just watched my brother and sister in law get married in the Salt Lake Temple, an amazing experience in its self and you sit there in total awe of what is going on all around you! Things are going well, The doctors tell me that I am to healthy to be on the transplant list, this was the most amazing news that they could give me. We plan a family vacation and we are loving life, then bang it happens and I can't really say what happened because it is way to personal still and Doug and I have to make some choices. Choices I thought that I would never have to make. The choice is made and I am in the hospital again for some minor surgery and am starting to feel the resentment of choices that are made. That seemed to be the down hill that I have watched people around me go through, but thought that I was strong enough to weather. Boy I was wrong. I started working outside the home, and even though I was a mom and a wife I was resenting it all. I had to work Sundays to start out with and so that meant no church, which was mistake #1. Personal prayer was the second and family prayer was eventually scarified as well. SO mom's not going to church or reading or praying or going to the temple. WHAT THE HELL WAS I THINKING! Doug finally followed suit and then it was no church for anyone, no prayer for anyone. I was failing as a mom, as a wife and as a sister. I have struggled to think of how we can get back on track. I quit the job that made me miserable, and we tried to quit the material world cold turkey, that didn't work. We went back to church really good for a while, but then there's that little stone that you trip over and fall flat on your face and can't get back up. As I am lying there wondering how am I going to get back up and become that woman, wife, mom and sister that I know that I am, most of all trying to figure out that I am a DAUGHTER OF GOD and doing all that I need to do to be worthy of his love.... Do you know how hard all that is to figure it out? TONIGHT I had one of those moments, Avery asked me about all the wars that are going on now and why. So this sparked a conversation about the SECOND COMING, and some of the signs of the second coming, it also sparked a conversation on worthiness and what we have to do to make sure we are worthy of such an Honor, and it clicked, not only for me did it click, but the boy's and Doug. Our kids have had some amazing example and were we have failed they have inspired and taught them, more than I ever realized, and I don't think I can ever say thank you enough! TOMORROW is a new day, one in which things will be different, one in which I KNOW that I am loved and even though I have had to make hard choices, I know those choices were the right ones and that I have a father that loves me and approves of those choices. I don't think it will be so hard to go to church now that it has finally clicked and the kids understand the importance of being there.

WE had Easter with the Berry's this year. The kids had a blast looking for eggs and doing a cute little craft. Really it was a craft meant more for the little kids, but the big kids were great sports about it and I think they had fun too.

SO for the last little while both Avery and Zackery have decided that I am just to mean to be a good mom. It started with a question like this, Can I have my ear pierced? "NO" why not? " cause the lord said to treat your body like a temple and not defile it! Plus boy's don't look good with earrings" this entire conversation lasted way to long if you ask me. I don't know about your childhood, but when an adult told me "NO" that really was the end of the conversation unless I wanted to be grounded for eternity. THE next question was WHY won't you let us buy what ever we want when we want it. Why do we need to wait for birthday and Christmas and end of the school year to see if we pass to the next grade? My friends get what ever they want! This one I couldn't even answer right away. I was blown at the question to begin with and thoughts running through the mind at the time should not have been shared at all. So I took a min and tried to explain that you can't have what ever you want in life, just cause you want it. You need to work hard for what you have and if you don't work hard then you don't get it. INSTANT gratification is not the answer to anything in life. At this point I was told that I was a mean mom and that he wished someone else was his mom cause she gives her kids what ever they want. At this point I just told him that I LOVED HIM and that one day he would thank me for the lesson's that I am trying to teach him. He said not likely and walked out. I really love my children and they don't understand yet how hard I have fought to be worthy to be there mom, or how I have fought to stay there mom here on earth. I know that one day they will understand and that the little bit of heart ache I feel now will not last for ever! REALLY the things that my kids think about in a day blows me away! TODAY I got to have what I considered one of the most amazing experiences of my life! I mean it is right up there with getting married and having our children.
WE were invited to a celebration breakfast to WELCOME Kent home from Iraq! That's right one of my favorite people in the whole world came home this week from Iraq and he made it safe and sound.
VETERANS in Kent and Rashells ward hosted a breakfast in his Honor to say THANK YOU, and they invited immediate family to share in this.
THERE was a flag ceremony where there were veterans from each branch of the service there. They carried in there branches colours with there song and saluted not only there flag but turned and saluted Kent 5 flags, 5 songs, 5 personal salutes.
THIS hard headed Canadian cried silently as she watched those men who fought not only for there country and families, but for other countries as well to enjoy the freedom and protection that we now have.
AMAZING is all I can say, simply AMAZING.
THANK YOU KENT! for your willingness to fight so that we may continue to enjoy the freedoms that we have. Your personal sacrifice does not go unnoticed in our house.
THANK YOU RASHELL! for sharing your amazing husband with the rest of the world, for being the TROOPER that you are, the sacrifices that you have made, I stand in awe of. THANK YOU Logan, Anya, and Mark also for sharing your Daddy. He is our hero.

Dear Santa:

I know that I am all grown up and it has been a long time since I wrote to you,I might be a little rusty at this so please keep this in mind when reading. I would like to think that I have been a good girl this year. I have a list of wishes like any other child a mile long, but there are a few that are most important to me. If you make it to the White House this year please place a lump of Cole int he presidents sock, and let him know very strongly that our loved ones serving in Iraq should have been home long before now, and that we really need to let other countries deal with there own problems and to not send anymore to Afghanistan. He (being the president) needs to concentrate on this country and how to solve our problems first. They are not going to go away, unless he makes more of an effort to fix things the right way. Also and I know that this is a tall order, but World Peace would be nice too. On a smaller scale I really need a new sewing machine, I have been working on Christmas projects and my machine is just not cooperating. It may end up in Pineview Dam with the rest of the unwanted things that get thrown in there. Books are always a great thing too, my fav author is Betsy Brandon Green. Oh and one more thing and this is the biggest order of all, I would like for my boys to stop fighting all the time. Thanks Santa for all you do.

Thank you for all you hard work and dedication. With out your sacrifice and that of your families we would have nothing. We love you and miss you a great deal and pray for your safe return every day!

The most intresting kids ever!!!

I know I am a little biased cause I'm the mom, but I think that I have the most interesting Children ever! Avery laid back and chill( just like his daddy) and Zack a little uptight and adventurous( OK so not so much like mom). I had some friends over for lunch last Saturday and Zack ran through our house holding his Private parts yelling " Brothers gonna kick me in the nuts!!!" Can I just say oh my heck!!! My face turned red and Jessica and Brittany laughed, thank goodness, what a day, never mind that, "What a Kid". Avery earned his Bear badge at scouts and Zack is using an empty yogurt box as a pillow! Avery is learning how to draw, and Zack wants to jump off the shed roof in moon shoes! Avery is learning the joys and frustrations of doing research papers and Zack is amazing his teachers and other children's parents with his medical knowledge and understanding on how machines work and save lives. See I told you I had the most interesting children ever!!! I love them so much, and are so very glad that they chose Doug and I as there parents. They are a joy and a wounder all the time.

I am absolutely livid! For the first time I am seriously questioning the thought process of our school principle and her administration! On Tuesday Sept 8, 2009 President Barack Obama is going to address our children and express his desire for them to excel in school and to achieve all that they are. Really do you see a problem? I don't, but our school administration seems to think that they will review the speech and see if it is appropriate for the kids to see. If they deem it worthy they will then send home permission slips for the kids to that parents can sign it and then the kids can see. Are you kidding me, Whether the content is appropriate or not it does not matter. This is the PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED SATES, I mean come on. Yes it is up to the parents whether the kids see it or not, not the school. Send home slips now, don't pull the preview card and then send them home, by that time the speech will be at least a week old and some of the message will be lost due to media etc..... Come on pull your head out of your but and leave the real choice to the parents. I will pull Avery and Zack from school so that they can hear this speech administration be damned!!!!!

Avery's scout troop participated in a "Rain Gutter Regala" This was something new for us. Doug and Avery have made durby car's, but a boat, was a whole new adventure for us. OK so I thought I was brave. My work gave us free tickets to the local Ogden Raptor's baseball game. I thought well it will pass one of Avery's scout requirements off and We will see some really good minor league baseball. Well I was disappointed, the game sucked and the boys wanted to leave early cause they were board. I had been thinking that some thing like that could be an annual thing, but oh my.

So I am the worlds biggest slacker when it comes to blogging. So much to do so littele time to do it in and am so tiered it's crazy. So they boys did baseball this summer again. Avery did machine Pitch and Zack did coach pitch, he should really have done another year of tball, but that didn't hold his attention real great, so coach pitch it was. Then we had new cousin's this summer Karston Blayne Berry, and Mark Alvin Berry. This promted the comment from Avery "where do babies come from?" and the replie from Zack " it's a game and babies are prizes. Mom your 2 babies down why" oh out of the mouths of children. Kids are wounderful. All in all I think the kids have had a good summer despite my chang in scheduals all the time. They have been down the slip and slide, in the pool, parades fire works all the great summer fun. Even to a baseball game, which will be the next posting. Ah the life of a child. Enjoy while you can.

OK so I am the proudest mom ever. Avery and Zackery got awards at the end of the school year. Avery's award was for outstanding in Science and Zack's was most improved in Math. For those of you who know me well, know how I have struggled with having to work outside the home, how often I felt like a failure and almost substandard mom. These awards give me hope and make me feel like I haven't failed my children to much. Way to go my little men. You have certainly over come the odds this year and I am so very proud of you!!!!

Vampiers in Nebraska?

OK so this past weekend I drove from here to Kansas City MO. We were going through Nebraska very early Friday morning when I saw this run down cute little old church, and of course I was thrilled to see it. I love old things and history is just up my ally. Needless to say I was the only one impressed by it, so no picture got taken and I felt a little bummed. NOT for long. As we were driving back Sunday night I saw the same church right at sundown. Man I was thrilled. I happened to be driving , so I pulled over and took the pictures I wanted. This is all done with my digital camera, I have not altered the pictures in anyway. I used the natural lighting set on the camera with a flash cause it was starting to get dark. This is the results I got. Brad one of the men I was traveling with asked when the Vampires were going to come out. Freaky a little. I think this could be used on a cover of a movie case or book art. I think it's way cool!!!

Well it's that time of year again. Avery raced in his second Pinewood durby. He one 3 out of 6 races and, he recived the GOLD award. We are very proud of him. We also have a new family member. Kudos goes out to my mother in law this year, who gave one of the best gifts ever and I didn't take a picture of it. It was Family Night in a bag. The bag included a movie, a board game, a big can of Chocolet Pretzles, and a huge can of Poppy Cock. It was awsome. The kids got lots of stuff and Santa was feeling a little genourus this year and brought a Wii. We have had a blast with it.

ok so for the first time ever we fit 19 people into our house all at the same time. It was the annual family party. Kent was home from training and we had a blast. So for Avery's birthday, we had a movie party. Seven 9 yr olds running around the house playing kung fu panda, pokeman, and every other thing you can imagine. We poped 6 bags of popcorn for the movie and it was gone in 20 min. Boy's sure are hungry!!!

Lesson Learned the hard way!!!!

Well tonight I had an experience that was absolutely terrifying!!! I had gone to Brigham City to pick up our beautiful family pictures. I let the kids stay in the car, like a good mom, I rolled down the windows, turned off the van and took the keys with me. So like most kids do Zackery moved from his seat up to the driver's seat to pretend he was driving. Can you guess yet what had happened next? , yep that's right, Zackery (and I don't know how) put the car into gear!! I'd parked on a slight incline and forgot to put the parking break on, the van rolled back, across the road, up over the curb, into the neighbors yard and got wedged in between 2 small trees. Amber and I were standing on her front porch and I had turned to make sure they were OK, when I saw the van start to go back words, the look of horror and the terror in there little voice was worse than almost dying. Matter of fact I think that I would rather die than see my children hurt or that scarred again. Poor zack shook for almost 2 hrs. When the van had finally stopped and the kids got out of the van, and I was talking to them, Avery told me that they had put the emergency break on to make the van stop, and it didn't. Amber's husband ran a little experiment, and we found out that the emergency break wasn't working at all. I think that there is going to be a trip to the dealership this week, to ask questions as to why the van was sold when the emergency break was broken.. Thank heavens for those trees. Had the van turned it's steering wheel the other way and they had missed the trees, Avery and Zackery would have gone over a small embankment, and crashed into the house across the rd. Some times I wounder how heavenly father expects me to live through raising this child. He may just kill me yet, and he's not even a teenager yet!!!

OK I am about to go on a little rant!!!! OLD MEN ARE $%^%^&#@

Doug and the boy's were in an accident at the end of June and I have finally taken the car into have the estimate done!!!! ready for this $2,700 of damage done to our car and that's before they pry the back door open, cause right now it won't. It was a little old man driving the other car and there was very little damage done to his car. His insurance co is trying to make Doug at fault and our co, is saying that the old man is at fault.. If you ask me men at the age of 70 should have there licences taken away!!!!

Lagoon

Doug took the boy's to Lagoon on Friday, and boy did they have a blast!!! Doug went with some friends of ours and they all took turns in kiddy land and ridding some of the bigger rides. Avery got to ride his first Roller coaster and Had a blast. That's all he has talked about since . Avery was also tall enough to drive the go karts. OH I'm in trouble!!!

OK so for those of you who know me, and know me well, I can't (or maybe won't) put down a good book. So for the last year I haven't had the time to pick up a book for me other than to read to the kids, so I have been listening to books on CD. The latest and greatest books I have been listening to are the Twilight Series, by Stephanie Myers: OM!!!!! is all I can say. For an LDS author, it's been one of the most thought provoking series I have ever read, and not in the traditional sense of thought provoking either. It makes you look at good and evil in a light that you had never thought of before and can monsters traditionally thought of as evil be good. Out of this all comes your own personal opinions, but for those of us who thrive on symbolism and hair pulling thoughts, comes another book. A classic, that has been mentioned only briefly by the author of the twilight series, until recently I have never ever though about reading. What book might this be you ask, well it is called Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte. Like Charles Dickens Tale of two cities wasn't torture enough, I need my head examined!!! I have come to a conclusion, classics are classics for a reason, they are our beginning in literature, they were the first to give us in site to ones imagination, the first to let us know about love and illogical, family strife and the total difference between classes. For the lack of a better saying, they are the first to put into writing MAN'S IN HUMANITY TO MAN. The story of Cathrine and Heathcliff now have a very special place in my heart, a place I thought only reserved for one other person, but now are inhabited by 3. If you have not read this book, I highly suggest it. It will make you look at love and Class in a whole different way.

My poor Zackery and Avery for that matter learned a hard lesson on life and death this week. Our poor Moufassa died late Tuesday night. Zack beaing the loving child he is (with Animals) took Moufassa to bed with him unknown to me. At some point durring the night Zack rolled on Moufassa and killed him. When I went in to give the kids kisses before i left for work, i found him passed away right beside Zack. Needeless to say my children were devistated to wake up to this. Belive it or not I was granted bereavement leave so that I could go home for the funeral. After the funeral we sat as a family and disscused when and what type of animal to get next. We have narrowed it down to a small but sturdy dog, or a rabbit. I did tell them though that it would be a couple of months before we got another pet. You see I had never had a pet growing up that died. There were always dogs around, but nothing more than that, so I a 33 yr old mom had a melt down over losing a hamster. How silly is that. Well Moufassa know that you were loved greatly and don't worry you have plenty of family to watch over you in heaven.

Ok. So for those of you that I havn't told, I had heart surgery on May 18th. I had started going in to heart failure in March and when I went to clinic in April they informed me that due to the test results I now qualified for the paracore study. So to make a long story short I had Heart surgery and am now the proud owner of a heart net. It's hardto explain what it looks like other than to say it's along the same idea as the netting around a pork rost that hold s it together. I didn't take pics in the hospital cause I'm sure you all can imagine just how I looked hooked upto machine's and Iv's you have all seen it before. I did how ever have a guardian angel come to visit durring my recovery, her name you ask, well It is my best friend Tara. We took her for a drive on her last day in to the mountains and stoped in Huntsville Utah. You may ask why Huntsville, well there is a Huntville, Ontario Canada so it ment somthing to her and I.
